YouTube and Vimeo links, and video files you host yourself, described with the same fields and shown in the same galleries as your photos.

3:143:14Videos and photos sit in the same display, carry the same fields, and answer the same filters.
Video items carry a play badge and a duration, and sit in the same grid as photos.

YouTube and Vimeo

On JMGallery › Upload, paste links into the video box, one per line, and click Add videos. For each link JMGallery fetches the title and the poster image from the provider, plus the duration for Vimeo (YouTube does not share it), and creates an item.

The shared metadata panel applies to these exactly as it does to uploads, so a batch of links from one event is described in the same pass.

Links that are neither YouTube nor Vimeo are left in the box with a count of how many failed, so you can fix them without retyping the rest.

Your own video files

Upload MP4, WebM, MOV or OGV to the Media Library, then add them from the picker on the Upload screen the same way you would add images. A poster frame is generated where the server can manage it; otherwise set a featured image on the item.

Self-hosted video plays in the lightbox and on the item page in the browser’s own player, and can be offered as a download.

In galleries

  • Video tiles show a play badge, and a duration where one is known.
  • Clicking plays in the lightbox without leaving the page. YouTube and Vimeo load their own player at that moment, not before.
  • A display’s Media type restricts it to photos only, video only, YouTube and Vimeo only, or uploaded video only.
  • Switch on the Photo / video switch in visitor controls to let people do the same on the front end.

Privacy

Adding a link contacts YouTube or Vimeo to fetch the title, duration and poster. Only the video URL is sent, and only at the moment you add it in the admin. Players load from youtube-nocookie.com or player.vimeo.com, and only when a visitor actually presses play.

The free plugin on its own makes no external requests at all.

If your licence lapses, videos already in your library keep listing, filtering, playing and exporting. Adding new ones is what pauses. Deactivating Pro entirely leaves them in place too; they display as their poster image.
